Welcome to the website of the
International Association for Identification (IAI),
the world’s oldest and largest forensic science/identification association

Photo of IAI President Vici InlowProfessional development is crucial in maintaining our skills and abilities, as well as furthering our knowledge. The issue is that when budgets require downsizing, the first item, usually, to be trimmed or cut is training and research. Forensic practitioners are required to keep abreast of technological advancement and assure the judicial and public communities that best practices are being implemented in our disciplines and practices.

The International Association for Identification (IAI) established a charitable foundation fund with the goal of providing scholarships and grants to further education and research. It is recognized that education, continuing education, and research are the foundation for the disciplines of forensic identification that fall under the auspices of the IAI. Two funds were joined into one in 2008, and provide a better fiduciary base to enable these objectives to be met. The Johnson-Whyte Memorial Foundation Fund, honors two members who were active in the advancement of knowledge and believed in participation in educational conferences.

The Foundation Fund is self-sustaining and depends on contributions to enable the funding of scholarships and grants. The funds are held in perpetuity; investment income from the Foundation fund is made available for awarding scholarships and grants. To supplement contributions, funds are raised by the Johnson-Whyte Foundation Fund Committee through raffles held at the annual educational conference. The Committee is to be congratulated for pursuing ways to raise funds and further the Foundation objectives and goals; however, it is your contributions which are the backbone.

Contributions are recognized by the various levels of donation and are cumulative. For a listing of the various levels, refer to the Johnson-Whyte Memorial Foundation Fund banner at the bottom of this web page. Contributions may be sent to: The Johnson-Whyte Memorial Foundation, c/o The IAI, 2535 Pilot Knob, Suite 117, Mendota Heights, MN 55120.

Please consider a tax deductable donation to the Foundation Fund, accumulating the various level lapel pins, and having the assurance that your donation will contribute to the future of forensic identification.
