Latent Print Examiner

This examination will establish an eligible list from which one (1) immediate appointment will be made at the Sheriff’s Department. Other permanent and temporary appointments will be made as needed.

Salary

$4,123 - $5,034; Approximate Monthly Equivalent; Paid Biweekly.

Closing Date

Applications will be received until cancellation of this notice. CANCELLATION CAN OCCUR AT ANYTIME WITHOUT NOTICE. Names will be placed on one eligible list in order of final grades.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s Degree in forensics, administration of justice, evidence technology, biology, chemistry, or related sciences AND two years of full-time experience in the comparison and identification of latent print material and related matters. OR An Associate Degree (or completion of 60 semester units or 90 quarter units of college course work) in forensics, administration of justice, evidence technology, biology, chemistry or related sciences AND three years full-time experience in the comparison and identification of latent print material and related matters. OR Four years of full-time experience in the comparison and identification of latent print material and related matters.

Candidates must possess a Latent Print Examiner Certification issued by the International Association for Identification at the time of appointment.

Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license by the State of California is required upon appointment.

YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO SUBMIT TO A PRE-OFFER DRUG SCREENING TEST AT COUNTY EXPENSE. FOLLOWING AN OFFER OF EMPLOYMENT, YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO SUBMIT TO POST OFFER MEDICAL TESTS AT COUNTY EXPENSE.

NOTE: ELIGIBLE CANDIDATES WILL BE FINGERPRINTED AND WILL BE REQUIRED TO PASS AN EXTENSIVE BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION.

ADMITTANCE TO EACH PHASE OF THE EXAMINATION WILL REQUIRE A GOVERNMENT ISSUED PHOTOGRAPH IDENTIFICATION. APPLICANTS WHO ARE UNABLE TO PRESENT PROPER IDENTIFICATION MUST MAKE ARRANGEMENTS WITH THE PERSONNEL DEPARTMENT PRIOR TO THE TEST DATE.

Examination Process

APPRAISAL (Weight 100 %): of training, education, experience, interest and personal fitness for the work based on any combination of the following: Investigation, oral exam and rating of application. Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process.
