Overview of Steps — New Application

I. Personal

• Personal (General Information)
  • General personal information such as legal name, birth date, and IAI member number.
• Personal (Address Information)
  • Your personal address.
• Personal (Contact Information)
  • The best way to contact you (email / phone number).

II. Professional

• Professional (Work History)
  • Detailed information about your previous employers and supervisors for the last five years.
• Professional (Work Experience)
  • Several questions about your years of experience, number of cases worked, and times you have testified.
• Professional (Testimony Experience)
  • Detailed information of up to three of the most recent occassions you have testified.
• Professional (Mentor Experience)
  • Detailed information of up to three of the most recent occassions you have acted as a mentor/primary training provider.

III. Education

• Education (College/University)
  • Detailed information about any colleges/universities you have attended.
  • YOU ARE REQUIRED TO ATTACH YOUR DEGREE IF APPLICABLE.
• Education (Professional Training)
  • Detailed information about any professional training you have received.
  • ENTER ENOUGH TRAINING TO SATISFY CERTIFICATION BOARD REQUIREMENTS.
  • YOU ARE REQUIRED TO ATTACH ANY CERTIFICATES OF COMPLETION.

IV. Recognition

• Recognition (Accomplishments)
  • Detailed information on the three most recent examles of:
    • Written/published works (e.g., articles).
    • Presentations/workshops/seminars given.
• Recognition (Honors)
  • Detailed information about:
    • Organizations you are or have been a part of.
    • Offices held.
    • Professional awards/honors.
• Recognition (References)
  • Detailed information about two references that the IAI may contact.
  • THESE TWO REFERENCES CANNOT BE THE SAME PEOPLE WHO WROTE YOUR LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION.
• Recognition (Letters)
  • Two letters of recommendation.
  • THESE TWO REFERENCES CANNOT BE THE SAME PEOPLE WHO WERE PROVIDED IN THE RECOGNITION (REFERENCES) STEP.

V. Ethics

• Information about your moral character and criminal history.
• You must read and agree to the IAI's Code of Ethics.

VI. Finalize Application

• Additional Information
  • This is an optional section where you can enter anything you believe the IAI may need in order to consider this application. Use this section to add additional information and/or clarify information already entered.
• Signature
  • Read the information provided and digitally sign your application.
  • Enter your name as you wish it to appear on your certificate (if different than legal name).
  • ONCE YOU SIGN YOUR APPLICATION, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO EDIT IT.

VII. Payment

• Choose your payment method and enter the required information.
• YOUR APPLICATION WILL NOT BE REVIEWED UNTIL PAYMENT HAS CLEARED.
• THE IAI STRONGLY RECOMMENDS YOU PAY BY CREDIT CARD TO ENSURE THE SPEED AND ACCURACY OF YOUR APPLICATION.
• IF YOU PAY BY CHECK, YOUR PAYMENT WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED UNLESS YOU SEND IT WITH THE "PAYMENT VALIDATION FORM". YOU WILL HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO PRINT THIS FORM DURING THE APPLICATION PROCESS.
