Recertification Points

Full-time Forensic Casework

You may claim 4 credits per year of full-time forensic casework related to this certification.
Full-time means that greater than 50% of your professional time is performing this function.


Participation / Attendance at Forensic Meetings

Registered attendance at the IAI Annual International Educational Conference, other IAI state or regional conferences or other forensic meetings recognized by the certification board during the five year recertification period.

You may claim 2 credits per half day.
You may claim a maximum of 60 credits out of the 80 needed for recertification.


Presentation of a paper

You may claim 5 credits for each paper.
You may claim a maximum of 40 credits out of the 80 needed for recertification.


Participation in a panel discussion / plenary discussion / poster presentation

You may claim 5 credits each.
You may claim a maximum of 40 credits out of the 80 needed for recertification.


Conduct a training workshop or seminar for forensic examiners within the forensic disciplines

You may claim 5 credits for each half-day presentation.
You may claim a maximum of 40 credits out of the 80 needed for recertification.


Conduct a training workshop for non-examiners

You may claim up to 3 credits for each half-day presentation.
You may claim a maximum of 20 credits out of the 80 needed for recertification.


Articles Published In Board Recognized Forensic Journals

You may claim up to 10 credits per article.
You may claim a maximum of 20 credits out of the 80 needed for recertification.


Attendance or Participation In A Course, Workshop, or In- Service Training Recognized By The Certification Board

You may claim 2 credits per half-day.
You may claim a maximum of 60 credits out of the 80 needed for recertification.

Participation/Attendance in Forensic Webinars
You may claim 2 credit per half day
You may claim a maximum of 4 credits (8 hours) out of the 80 needed for recertificaiton


Holding An Office Or Serving On A Committee In A Forensic Society Recognized By The Certification Board Or Performing An Official Service For A Forensic Journal Publication

You may claim 5 credits for each year served.
You may claim a maximum of 20 credits out of the 80 needed for recertification.


Membership in a Forensic Society Recognized By the Certification Board

You may claim 1 credit for each year of membership.
You may claim a maximum of 20 credits out of the 80 needed for recertification.


Acting as the Primary Provider of On-The-Job Training For Novice Forensic Examiners

You may claim 5 credits for each year training is provided.
You may claim a maximum of 20 credits out of the 80 needed for recertification.


Providing A Written Summary (250 word minimum) of an Article Written by Another Forensic Examiner or Related Professional and Published

You may claim 2 credits for each article.
You may claim a maximum of 32 credits out of the 80 needed for recertification.


Any Other Activity that an Applicant Feels Should Be Considered

Examples: Teaching forensic related college courses, research and presentations to the general public, etc.
You may claim a maximum of 24 credits out of the 80 needed for recertification.
